Weaving a Tapestry
In August 2024 I studied textile and fashion design at Textil Skolen, in Denmark. It was 6 months of learning and discovering the world of textile design.
One of my favourites projects was weaving a tapestry on a horizontal loom.
The brief was easy, pick a colour thread for the wrap and use recycled and unused fabrics for the weft.

After doing some tests, I chose the red/ burgundy color for the wrap and started experimenting with blue and gray tones.
The more I played with colors, I discovered that a third color was created because of the mix of the wrap and the weft.
The process revealed an unexpected outcome: the red warp and blue-gray weft blended to create a purplish hue.

Setting up the loom was the most difficult part, after two days, I could start weaving. It was one week of weaving with total freedom, without a plan. After the first trial, I started thinking about the composition and I decided to design the prototype with Photoshop.

After designing what I was looking for, I decided to play with different blocks on the tapestry. This geometric shapes create an order to the composition.
